CMWare's skyTuneZ
service is powered by our unique, patent-pending technology. The skyTuneZ
technology extends the media libraries stored on personal computers to a
broad range of mobile handsets used by consumers, both in the home and on
the go.
skyTuneZ works over any mobile network — including GPRS, Edge and 3G, UMTS,
WiMax– to stream media content to virtually any Java, Symbian, Brew or WinCE
mobile phone.
The skyTuneZ software
includes five main components:
- The skyTuneZ Media Storage Server provides online
storage for user's photos, videos and music. Users upload media from
their PC to the storage system, where the skyTuneZ media storage server
prepares the media for streaming to the mobile device. The skyTuneZ
web user interface allows users to view and manage their collection
of online media.
- The skyTuneZ Media Application Server optimizes
real time delivery of media from the skyTuneZ online storage to
the mobile device. The software continuously and dynamically analyzes
the bandwidth available to the mobile handset to optimize the stream
for maximum quality.
- The skyTuneZ Client consists of Java, Symbian, Brew
or Windows Mobile software that runs on the mobile handset. The skyTuneZ
client plays back multimedia streams sent from the media application
server. The client allows rapid search through large online media libraries
and automatically uploads photos and videos taken with the mobile client
camera to the user's online storage.
- The skyTuneZ PC Upload Tool installs on the user's
PC and allows them to move mass amounts of their media into the online
storage system. The upload tool automatically updates the online storage
when new media is added to a user's PC.
- The skyTuneZ Operations Server provides a full
set of system management functions. The operations server monitors
all the components of the skyTuneZ service, assuring the highest
levels of system availability. The operations server provides a
full set of reports for service level monitoring, capacity planning
and marketing analysis. The skyTuneZ system includes a flexible
subscriber billing system capable of billing by time or data usage,
configurable based on desired commercial models.
The advantages of skyTuneZ:
- Dynamically Transrates Digital Media Content:
skyTuneZ is the only place-shifting application that dynamically transrates
media content to allow media to be streamed over any data network.
- Allows for Existing File Formats. Virtually any
media file format can be streamed or downloaded to a mobile phone.
No special conversions necessary by the user - skyTuneZ will transcode
virtually any media format or any media playlist, providing unlimited
access to virtually any media file stored on a home computer.
- Uses Devices Already in Production. Because skyTuneZ
works with existing devices, consumers won't need to buy expensive,
high-end mobile phones to take full advantage of the unique benefits
that place-shifting has to offer – in fact, they can use even
the most basic, inexpensive cell phone on the market.
- Uninterrupted Streaming: skyTuneZ has the ability
to use the phone's internal memory to buffer the media stream. Even
a loss of data connections of up to 15 minutes will result in no interruption
of play depending on the mobile phone memory.
- Unparalleled Back Office Support: CMWare has built,
from the ground up, a complete system offering a turn-key service
solution to mobile operators. Created by a team with extensive network
operations experience, CMWare understands how to operate a carrier-class
service infrastructure. CMWare offers the skyTuneZ system as a white
label, hosted service that integrates with the mobile carriers systems
for authentication and billing. Alternatively, CMWare can provide
the full skyTuneZ infrastructure to the mobile operator for complete
integration with their operations. In either case, the skyTuneZ system allows mobile operators a simple way to offer advanced media services to their subscribers, using the phones already on their network
